Tuesday 5th June, 2007-St. George’s: The Grenada Carnival Committee and the Grenada Cultural Foundation met on Monday 4^th June, 2007 at 3:30 p.m. at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Tourism to discuss plans as it relates to Carnival 2007.  The meeting was chaired by the New Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Culture and the Performing Arts, Dr. Clarice Modeste Curwen.

 

All aspects of Carnival including stage, venues and outstanding payments among other matters were discussed at length.  Also discussed were judging of the Calypso Shows by local and foreign judges, revision of the rules and regulations and sponsorship.

 

According to Interim Chairman of the Carnival Committee, Mr. Thomas Matthew, plans are in place and is rapidly taking shape as they endeavour to make Carnival 2k7 bigger and better. 

 

A Carnival Secretariat was also set up and will be spearheaded by a Manager to be announced.  A press conference will be held on Friday 8^th June, 2007 at the conference room in the Ministry of Tourism where the Committee will outline some of their plans and dates for the Carnival activities.
