INSPECTOR CELEBRATES 20 YEARS - 20-06-2005

Elimus "Inspector" Gilbert

Imagine the flight industry being so consistent that every time one shows up at the airport the flights arrive and depart as scheduled. Sporting fans wouldn’t it be great to have your favorite batsman deliver a score of fifty or more every time he takes to the crease. Is it possible for your favorite Artiste to produce a hit every time he goes into the studio to record an album?

The fans of Roger Elimus “Inspector” Gilbert will respond with a resounding and enthusiastic, Yes! For twenty years, yes twenty, the Hitman as he is appropriately referred to has being a model of reliability, consistency and dependability in relation to Grenada’s Carnival, music and entertainment.

For those who remember the lanky teenager’s first National appearance in 1985, with the eventual Road March Dance, it is hard to fathom that two decades have since elapsed.

Inspector is without question the greatest performer and entertainer of Grenadian citizenry. His extremely impressive list of accomplishments does not begin to tell the story of this entertainer extraordinaire. The crowns and trophies representing the titles of Junior Calypso, Road March, Soca Monarch and the coveted Calypso Monarch all adorn a mantle that should be the envy of any aspiring Artiste.

Even more impressive than all the titles is the continued adoration of the fans, the respect of his peers and the sustained humility of this young man who has accomplished so much so early in his life.

Inspector makes no attempts, whatsoever, to conceal his love for his country and for the art form. After a lifetime of pleasing audiences all over the world his passion for recording and performing has not waned giving fans of the Hitman reason to believe he will be around for another twenty years or more.

As the 2005 Carnival season unfolds Inspector’s fans around the world will be getting the opportunity to celebrate his twentieth year as an entertainer as the Hitman embarks on a world tour. New York, Toronto, Montreal, London and off course Grenada are among the stops and while attending one of those shows be sure to pick up a “Best of Inspector” CD and forever own your piece of history.

This author reserves this time and space to congratulate the Inspector on twenty years of greatness. Whether it is at the Davey Day celebrations in St. Patrick’s or the Big Stage of Soca Monarch your efforts and ability to get people of their feet has always been consistent and for that I hold you in very high regard.

Inspector 20 year celebration continues on the July 9th at the Arena in St. Patricks with performances from Baby Killa, Randy, Tallpree, Spontainous, the soca queen "GG", Young Sound and Boggie B. MC's Senator and Fat Man.

Thanks for the last twenty years and I eagerly await what you have in store for us for the next two decades.
