Introduction

1. This competition is open to Calypsonians from the ages of 13 – 18yrs of secondary schools within Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique.
2. They must be citizens of Grenada.
3. The competition will be held in three stages:

Preliminaries

Semi-finals

Finals

PRELIMINARIES

Participants will submit a CD containing a tract (instrumental) of their song by a date set by the office of the Division of Culture. Participants will be judged at a preliminary venue to be determined by Division of Culture. Twenty (20) semi-finalists plus one stand-by will be selected to compete at the next stage of competition.

 

SEMI-FINALS

Twenty (20) semi-finalists will compete at this stage of competition accompanied by a live band on the given date. Ten (10) artistes plus one (1) stand-by will be selected to participate in the finals.

 

FINALS

Ten (10) artistes will be selected from the semi-finalist to compete in this stage of competition against the reigning monarch. Artistes will be accompanied by a live band.

PRIZES

Appearance Fees will be given to individuals: Finals $1000

Prizes to be given to Schools:

First Place	$5,000
Second Place	$3,000
Third Place	$1,500

Additional prizes will be given to the individual winners and will vary dependent on sponsorship in given year.
