The best in soca to compete at Victoria Park July 27

St. George's, July 18, 2012 – Former Soca Monarchs, Mr. Killer and Otis, will be hoping that 2012 is the year they'll reclaim the title they once held as top soca artiste in Grenada.

To retain the title, however, the two must first get through a tough field of 31 competitors who have been selected for the Soca Monarch semifinal.

The event, organized by the Spicemas Corporation and sponsored by telecommunications giant, LIME, will be held Friday, July 27, at Victoria Park in Grenville, St. Andrew.

The 2012 Soca Monarch will be crowned at the final of the competition on Friday, August 10, at the National Stadium, St. George's.

Among the semifinalists for the July 27 show at Victoria Park are female artistes Leonie Patrick and Nekoyan Bain; and duos Little Natty and Thunda, and Shally Bally and Maga.

The semifinal lineup also includes others such Lavaman, Shortpree, Boyzie, Shatta Ricky, Teddy Rhymez, Mr. Legs, Japs, Young Sound, Randy Isaac and Maximillion.

The draw for the order of appearance at the semifinal was conducted at a LIME-sponsored public event at the courtyard of the Esplanade Mall. Photos are posted on the LIME facebook page.

The reigning Soca Monarch is Terror Kid who won the title in 2011 with the popular, "The Last Days''.
